Switchcraft ® Is a manufacturer of connectors, jacks, plugs, molded cable assemblies, terminal blocks and switches in the United States. Including medical, GPS, process control, transportation, homeland security, broadcasting and professional audio. Founded in 1946, Switchcraft, Inc. mainly produces sockets, plugs and switches, which are mainly used in the communication industry. The original factory was located on West diversey street in Chicago. In 1948, the company moved to a larger plant at 1328 North Halstead street. In 1958, its business moved to a 185000 square foot plant at 5555 North Elston Avenue. The plant is still the company's headquarters and the largest of the company's three manufacturing locations today In 1977, Switchcraft was acquired by Raytheon and operated as an independent subsidiary of its commercial department for 20 years. During this period, Switchcraft expanded its production capacity, including vertical integration, to achieve cost-effective manufacturing in the United States. They also expanded to connector products in harsh environments, expanding the company's market growth. In 1997, Raytheon made a strategic decision to focus on the national defense industry. As a result, they gave up all their interests in commercial holdings. At that time, Switchcraft was sold to company management and a private equity company. In 1999, Switchcraft acquired conxall, a manufacturer of circular connectors and cable assemblies, to expand its supply of connection products in harsh environments. They are located in a 32000 square foot facility in Villa Park, Illinois. This strategic acquisition is conducive to the expansion and growth of Switchcraft in the industrial market. In 2011, Switchcraft was acquired by Heico and became part of its electronic technology group. Switchcraft is not only the main supplier of connection products in harsh environment in industrial market, but also the main connection supplier in professional audio and broadcasting industry.
